Perhaps it is time for Massachusetts 351ers to unite.
One of the best parts of this experience - attempting to visit and photo every municipality in the state - has been hearing about other people's similar missions.
Vermonters have the Vermont 251 Club (active since 1954). I think its time we Bay Staters do something similar.
Here's the idea: to be a member of the Massachusetts 351 Club you have to "enjoy traveling the main streets and back roads of the Bay State."
That's it. No dues. No application. No test. Though most members will be thinking about, in the middle of, or finished with a quest to visit every town in the state.
What's the benefit? One day each year, every willing Club member will come together at a predetermined location and hang out. We can share stories, photos, tips. And food.
Maybe down the line we could invite a special speaker each year. Wonder if Doris Kearns Goodwin is available. Or Gov. Patrick. Or Matt Damon.
But I digress.
I declare the best place to meet would be the geographic center of the state, a town called Rutland. And what better establishment to patronize than one named Tavern On The Common?
When? In honor of the anniversary of our fair state's statehood, I suggest the annual gathering of the Massachusetts 351 Club should happen at lunchtime on the Saturday following the date the state joined the union, Feb. 6, 1788.
So the first annual meeting of the Massachusetts 351 Club should happen:
Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at high noon.
At the Tavern On The Common, 249 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
Who's with me?! If you think you can make it, please shoot me an e-mail at massachusetts351@gmail.com.

Good idea! Count me in.
Nice idea. Bit of a distance for me from Connecticut.
Ah, Rutland...I know it well since it is just one town over from The Fahm. We've moved "into town" (Easthampton) for the winter though, and will miss the inaugural meeting.
In other news, the book manuscript that our first year resulted in: "Our Year at The Fahm or, Blessed are The Cracked for They Shall Let in The Light" is very near publication. Is it possible to persuade you to read and review it? I would be honored, if so. Let me know...Regards, Sara
Hi Sara, Would love to read/review the book! Congrats on its publication! Just let us know the details.
FYI - Pete and Debbie Lincoln will be at the Hopedale Public Library on January 11, 2012: http://www.socialweb.net/Events/137236.lasso
Oh yay! I'm so glad you're able (and willing!) to take a look at it. I can send you a .PDF of the almost-ready-for-print version, will that work for you? Or, if you prefer, I can send an e-reader file.
I am very interested in having someone I've never actually met review the manuscript AND with you a NE resident, well, even better.
Send me your e-mail address and your file format preference, and I'll get it to you ASAP. You are doing me an enormous favor, and I am very grateful. Thank you.

Marc, Thanks for the heads up! once again I missed the Lincolns. We need to get word to them somehow about the Club meet up!
